The Telecommunication Systems Institute (TSI) is a National Research Institute founded by the Greek Ministry of Education in 1995. TSI operates within the framework of the Technical University of Crete (TUC) as an administratively independent and financially self-sustained entity.
TSI’s mission is to spearhead basic and applied research in telecommunications and allied areas. Its research collaborators are researchers, faculty members, and graduate students mainly from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at TUC.
TSI is exclusively funded from external R&D grants and contracts, from the European Commission, international industry, and national funding agencies, in telecommunication systems, network services and allied areas: signal processing, space applications, biomedical applications, machine learning, big data analytics, networking hardware, sensors, RF, micro-nanoelectronics Integrated Circuit (IC) design, low-power and sensing electronics, optoelectronics, energy harvesting.
