Space Training Session for Secondary Schools

Overview

In light of the international Space Week and to celebrate Greece’s 10th anniversary of becoming a full ESA member, the si-Cluster (coordinated by Corallia and the Hellenic Association of Space Industry) and the Harokopio University, with the support of the European Space Agency and Terra Spatium, are organising Space training sessions addressed to secondary schools (middle school & high school students).

Application

The course is addressed to the secondary schools of the country. Every school can register on-line by submitting your application to the links below.

Kindly note:

  • Fees: No participation fees will be charged for the training but participating schools are expected to cover their own travel expenses.

Participation is limited to a maximum of 90 students per slot and is subject to availability.

Reservations are being made on a first come first serve basis.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by the 30th November 2015.

In case of cancelation please make sure that you notify at least 5 days earlier.

Programme

Earth and Space Science topics appear in the news every day and affect all our lives. We deal with the effects of natural hazards, make decisions about resource use, and adjust our activities according to the daily weather forecast. Secondary school students may learn about Space Science and specifically Earth observation topics in a course addressing to environmental science application, integrated science, physical geography, or in other science subjects.

Earth Observation competition

Answer an online quiz including satellite images accurately and quickly to win prizes from the European Space Agency (ESA).

Prizes shall be awarded during the high school visits at Harokopeio University during 7-11 December 2015.
