The Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSLab) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) was founded in 1987 and is a member of the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL). The main objectives of RSLab are education, research and development in the areas of Remote Sensing and Earth Observation. In particular, the research interests span a wide range of topics like the handling, management and analysis of geospatial big data, the design, development and evaluation of cutting-edge, multimodal, data processing systems for a variety of sensors (multispectral, hyperspectral, thermal, radar, Lidar, etc.) and platforms (satellites, manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, ground, underwater, etc.). State-of-the-art machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, etc techniques are designed and developed for the analysis. Environmental monitoring, land-use mapping, change detection in urban and peri-urban environments, automated processing and data fusion, safety and security, estimation of water quality and precision agriculture are among the targeted geospatial applications. The RSLab has coordinated and participated in several national and European research programs, while its members have published numerous papers in top-rank, international scientific journals and conferences.
